#18 – Vince Guaraldi’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas”

This week, Scott, Karl, and Trent listen to the seasonal classic, Vince Guaraldi Trio’s ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ album.

Airing on CBS on December 9, 1965, the soundtrack went on to be a massive bestseller, cementing Guaraldi’s place in music and history.

His music also helped to ensure the lasting television life of the beloved characters Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Sally, and Snoopy the dog.

Guaraldi brings a balance of sweetness and sorrow to the music behind the story of Charlie Brown and his struggle to find the true meaning of Christmas in the face of holiday-season commercialism. Trent says, “The song “Christmas Time Is Here” is the thematic centerpiece of this album. It underpins Charlie’s feelings about Christmas.”
